Our Malay Film History, Shaw Brothers & Cathay Keris:

The Singapore Malay Film Society, (SMFS) is a newly minted not-for-profit group. Started out as a Facebook group formed in May 2008 by Volunteers ranging from Professionals to Hobbyist not restricting to any race or culture to support and develop the rapidly growing film industry in Singapore. Regardless of race, we hope to churn out more Malay Films in Singapore.

SMFS aims to: Gather film enthusiasts, contacts & films works. Organize screening events, overseas film trips, competitions & workshops. Market and promote any of our filmmakers and their works.

If YOU have a film to showcase, let us compile them and we shall help YOU to screen them in our awards screening event - Purnama held once every 2 years.

We want to meet with those who shares the same passion with us and sharing the vision to revive the malay film industry in Singapore.

Camera Sponsorships for SMFS Filmmakers (For Short Film & Film Documentary Projects only).

We are now officially supported by Canon’s HD Camcorders! If you are in need of camera sponsorships for your short film productions or film documentary project, all you need to do is to email us your Project Proposal Write-up at least 2-3 weeks in advance in pdf which consists of:

3. 3.*S$100 Deposit. (*Will be returned after Production is complete and nothing is damaged).
   

4. 4.Your film posters, 30 secs trailers & end credits must include the Canon’s Logo as “Official Camera”.
   

5. 5.Your film posters, 30 secs trailers & end credits must include the SMFS’s Logo as “Supported by”.
   

6. 6.A copy of your short film in 1 x DVD PAL Video or 1 x HDV Tape to SMFS.
   

7. 7.At least 10 x stills pictures of your film production/behind the scenes. 5 of which must include the Canon Camcorders with Director or DOP or both.

We are also working closely with Camwerkz Pte Ltd and use their equipments to support our film workshops and education arm.
